Executive Director & CASA Board update re: Covid 19 March 16, 2020

Hello, As we continue to monitor COVID-19 news and recommendations from the CDC, Oregon Health Authority, and National CASA, the CASA for Children of Klamath County Board of Directors and Staff have decided on the following plan. Please know the health and safety of you and the children we serve remain the focus of this decision.

Our office will be open to staff only the week of March 16th from 8:30 am 12:00 pm. The office will be closed the following week, Spring Break, from March 23rd to March 31st. During that time we will be available by phone and email to provide support. When we are not in the office, we will have our phones forwarded to our cells.

After careful consideration and communication with the CASA board, other CASA Directors across the state, and strong encouragement from the State of Oregon and the CDC, we are cancelling all non-essential gatherings at the CASA office through the end of March.

We understand our children and families still need to be served and National CASA has recommended and approved that advocate contact should be limited to phone calls and letter writing during this time. The CRB will be implementing conference calling in place of in-person meetings and we are waiting for updates from our local courts regarding court hearings.

We will continue to monitor the situation and update you with any information as it becomes available.

Please take care of yourselves and your families and let us know if any of you need anything! As a reminder from our health care professionals:ash your hands frequently for at least 20-30 seconds (sing Happy Birthday twice)

  • Practice social distancing

  • Use hand sanitizers when soap and water are not available

  • Avoid handshaking

  • Avoid touching your face

  • If you begin exhibiting symptoms, please contact your health care provider

For more information, please visit the Oregon Health Authority website at

We are grateful for all of you and appreciate your understanding.

Warmly,

Karri and CASA Board of Directors
